Afghan Advantage is grateful for the support of King County’s Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL), which has helped make our new website possible.
Through VSHSL grants and capacity-building support, AA+ has been able to work with technical consultants on database and website updates, while also strengthening our workforce, operations, and internal systems. These investments help us better track student progress, share our impact, and remain transparent stewards of voter-approved public funds.
The VSHSL invests in veterans, seniors, and resilient communities across King County, supporting programs that promote housing stability, healthy living, financial stability, social engagement, and access to services. It also directly supports small, culturally specific community-based organizations that have historically had less access to the public and private funding needed to build strong organizational infrastructure.
For a grassroots organization like Afghan Advantage, this kind of support matters deeply.
It helps Afghan women educators live and work in the communities they serve. It strengthens the systems behind our mobile, community-based literacy and leadership programs. And it helps us tell the story of Afghan women finding belonging, building self-reliance, and becoming active contributors to public life in King County.
Our new website is more than a communications tool. It is a bridge. It allows us to share student success, invite new partners into the work, and help more women and families find hope, connection, and pathways toward their goals.
We are especially grateful for VSHSL’s supportive, available, and engaged program managers, who have walked alongside AA+ as we grow our use of technology, strengthen data systems, and build the infrastructure needed for long-term community impact.
Thank you, VSHSL, for investing in Afghan women’s leadership, community participation, and belonging.
Shona ba Shona — shoulder to shoulder — we are building stronger pathways for women, families, and communities across King County.
